Surrey Hills Dark Skies Celebration
7.00pm – 9.00pm • Newlands Corner Albury, GU4 8SE
Join us at Newlands Corner from 7pm on Friday 9th February to celebrate our Dark Skies! We think our star-studded skies overhead are as valuable as our beautiful landscapes. We want to champion and protect the fragile oases of natural darkness still to be found within the county and to do all we can to reduce the damage done countywide by light pollution.
Discover the night sky with Guildford Astronomical Society by looking through telescopes, partaking in a Star Count and learning about astrophotography.
We’ll also be joined in the Discovery Centre by the University of Surrey to hear about impacts on wildlife, wellbeing and their Space4Nature satellite project, and Surrey Bat Group about the curious and special species that are essential to protect.
This is a free event and open to all, just turn up on the day, but we strongly recommend you sign up to Guildford Astronomical Society’s newsletter in case this event is cancelled due to poor weather. Click here.
