A word from Tracey’s Sewing Room for Big Green Week
4th June 2025

While most of our Big Green Week Swap, Switch, Share event on June 7 is happening in St Martin’s Walk we do have other bits and pieces spotted around town too.
Tracey’s Sewing Room will be hosting a workshop perfect for those who are looking to switch out the habit of throwing leftover scraps into the bin thinking they’re too small to be useful. They’re not!
Tracey, from Tracey’s Sewing Room has kindly written us an introduction to her Scrappy Bag workshop and shared a few examples of just how creative those ‘waste scraps’ can actually be …
Switch Binning Scraps for Winning Bags!
We’re excited to be taking part in Circular Dorking’s Big Swap, Switch, Share for The Big Green Week, and we’d love for you to join us for a special workshop celebrating sustainable sewing. We’re hosting our first ever Scrappy Fabric Workshop—and it’s going to be a fun one!

We’ll be making charming and practical utility bags, all crafted entirely from scrap fabrics. These little bags are a joy to create and no two are ever the same. The beauty lies in the mix—different colours, textures, and prints come together to create something uniquely yours.
We hope to see you there—let’s turn scraps into something special!
Whether you’re new to sewing or a seasoned stitcher, this workshop is a perfect way to flex your creativity, reduce waste, and leave with something both useful and beautiful.
We’ll be hosting this workshop at a special Big Green Week rate of £30 and we have 7 spaces available. Pop in to the shop or call to secure your space.
