Green Careers Workshop Pilot

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to represent the Surrey Sustainability Society at Priory School, Dorking for a Green Careers Workshop, alongside Wendy and Keith from Circular Dorking – a CIC actively engaging people and businesses in sustainability.

Pitch for Planet is designed to introduce students to the vast and rewarding world of green careers-not just as job opportunities but as meaningful career paths that contribute to a better future. We explored the diverse roles in sustainability, the impact they create, and the purpose-driven approach behind them.

One key takeaway? There’s still low awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among students. Through these workshops, we not only introduce green careers but also highlight how these roles align with the global goals, making sustainability more relatable and actionable.

To ensure we keep improving, we conducted surveys to understand students’ career interests and gathered feedback to refine our approach for future sessions. Looking ahead, we aim to expand this initiative, engaging more students like myself to share their journeys and inspire younger generations to explore sustainability-focused careers.
