SECA ANNUAL GATHERING 2024

12.00 – 5.00pm • Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, BN1 1YD

Our Annual Gathering is all about learning from each other and connecting for change. Join us at the Brighthelm Centre in Brighton on Saturday 3 February to network with like-minded individuals from SECA groups across the South East, all of whom are passionate about making a difference in their communities and helping address the climate and biodiversity crisis. It’s a chance to share ideas and challenges, make new connections, and be inspired!

Agenda
The day will include a mix of thought-provoking plenary sessions and a series of parallel table discussions where we will be brainstorming on a range of hot topics suggested by member groups.

Plenary sessions will focus on:

  • Vote for Change – how do we influence decision makers and mobilise to get climate onto the local & national election agendas?
  • Build resilience – what does community resilience mean and how can SECA groups help to promote it?
  • Unite with youth – how youth leaders are using the One Planet platform to map and connect with councils

We will also have table discussions on a range of topics including Watch Groups, One Planet, Youth Engagement, Climate Hubs, Resilience, Preparing for the Elections, what SECA groups need to focus on to meet our 2030 carbon targets, and how SECA groups can support nature-based solutions.

The emphasis throughout is on participation – so be prepared to engage!

Doors open at 12.00 noon and the first session starts at 12.45 pm. Please bring your own lunch, and perhaps some cake to share at the afternoon tea break.

Spaces are limited so book early.
Tickets cost £5 (plus booking fee) or £10 if you’d like include a small donation to cover SECA running costs during the year.
