Community Energy in Surrey
ZERO: 168 High Street, Guildford. GU1 3HW
March 15 • 1pm – 3.30pm
About the Event
Surrey Community Energy, a new energy co-op, and schools’ energy specialist Wey Valley Solar, are teaming up for an event that will introduce you to community owned energy and how you can get involved. We’ll help bust myths around ‘local energy’ resources, and why community owned renewables are a powerful way to create lower energy prices in Surrey.
For those keen on data-driven energy planning or working in local authorities, we’ll be joined by UK Power Networks DSO to showcase our latest open data and digital tools. These include:
Local Area Energy Planning (LAEP) Open Data Portal – supporting local decision-making on energy infrastructure.
Your Local Net Zero Hub – helping councils and community groups plan their net zero journey.
- Discover how local renewable energy can reduce costs and benefit your community.
- Explore investment opportunities with annual returns
- Find volunteering roles to make a real impact
- Learn how your premises could be part of future projects.
Speakers Include:
- Community Energy South – an intro to community energy with Nicola Davidson of CES and MaidEnergy
- Surrey Community Energy – Dai Griffiths & Maddie Evans on the new Surrey Community Energy community benefit society’s energy generation activity
- Wey Valley Solar – Laura Wilson will discuss invest opportunities in WVS’ new schools academy solar projects
- UK Power Networks – Venus Tam & Abdurahman Anwar on how their data tools support local energy planning
