Little stories to inspire big changes
Damn Cheek’s ‘Passion for the Planet’
1st September 2023
Creative inspiration
At Damn Cheek we have always looked to provoke thought, to entertain and to inspire audiences to be creative, to get involved in their communities, or just to pay more attention to the world around them.
Passion for the Planet, our 2023 Mole Valley project, reflects those aims.
It:
- embodies our commitment to making theatre with community, while delivering a professional show for all to enjoy
- is designed to be inclusive and open to all
- starts with identifying local partners and co-producers, planning and listening sessions and venue finding
- moves on, in the summer, to workshops and ‘making days’ with community groups and individuals and workshops in local schools
- embodies the output of all these events, which will include written work, visual art and physical materials – in the show as props and scenery; and as installations which will form part of the final production
- culminates in a site-specific piece of promenade theatre for one week 21- 28 October in the Friends Meeting House in Dorking, led by a professional cast of three, assisted by local volunteers, with plenty of opportunities for participation
- includes BSL interpreted, audio described and ‘pay what you can’ performances, as well as provision for anyone with mobility issues – we do not want anyone to be excluded
