Tree planting on verges in your road

Fairfield Drive residents’ group, in Dorking, set up a tree planting committee 5 years ago. The whole road now has new and renewed trees planted on almost every verge along the road. It has been a great success.

The group is eager to share lessons learnt and pass on ideas of how other roads/residents’ groups can do similar to empower more environmental tree planting in urban/residential areas in the Mole Valley.

Research has shown that property values are enhanced when a road has trees. They also dramatically improve the environment and provide a cooling effect in hot Summers.

The road also has a litter picking team. They are only needed a few times per year. But this keeps on top of the ever present littering issue.  Dorking Library of Things (LoT) now has 2 litter picking kits to borrow for free. So why not set up a litter picking group in your road/area? It is a great community team building exercise.
