Free Energy Surveys in Mole Valley

Free energy surveys are back through our Home Energy Advice Taskforce (HEAT)

Circular Dorking is thrilled to announce that in collaboration with Zero Guildford, we are part of a consortium who have been awarded a large contract to deliver this initiative as part of the Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD) fund! It means that free home energy surveys return and the service has been expanded the service right across Surrey, including Mole Valley, through our Home Energy Advice Taskforce.

About this project

The consortium led by Surrey County Council have secured a major slice of funding as one of the 36 LEAD projects funded nationally. This is one of the largest, if not the largest council-community collaborative projects on energy to date in the UK, and we’re proud to be part of this unprecedented collaboration across organisations to tackle the climate crisis.

Zero Carbon Guildford will be teaming up with a number of community groups to deliver thermal imaging surveys and energy efficiency support, including our neighbours What Next Godalming and Woking Environmental Action as well as some new partners such as Oxshott Net Zero and Circular Dorking. HEAT’s Energy Champions will visit the homes of Surrey residents and provide tailored advice to help them cut their bills, ensure their homes are healthy and comfortable, and help to reduce carbon emissions within the residential energy sector – Surrey’s second largest source of emissions.

Surveys are targeted at audiences who will most benefit from a free survey, either financially or in terms of carbon reduction. But the audiences are broad, and given nearly 2/3 of homes in Surrey are EPC-D rated or below, or have no EPC at all, that already makes it pretty likely you’ll be eligible. Signposting for available funding

The energy survey includes recommendations and signposting to available funding sources. There is significant funding available in Surrey to help with improving the energy efficiency and energy use within existing properties. This flowchart (above) shows the funding criteria.
